Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) JEE Main is for those candidates who wish to get into BE or B.Tech. courses in the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IITs), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), other Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) and engineering colleges of the participating states. The JEE Main is also the eligibility test to appear for the JEE Advanced exam which eventually leads to the admission in IITs. Over 10-11 lakh IIT-JEE aspirants try their fate for 16000 seats of 23 IITs, 23000 seats of 31 NITS, 2400 seats of 3 BITS, 5000 seats of 26 IIITs but still 8 to 8.5 lakh IIT-JEE aspirants remain in search of the right college and career options. JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) – In & Out JEE (Main):
- A common entrance for admission to all IITs, NITs, DTU, CFTIs etc.
- Each Subject will have two sections. Section A will have Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will have Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value.
- Section A will have 20 MCQs and Section B will have 10 Numerical value type questions.
- In Section B, candidates have to attempt any 5 questions out of 10.
- There will be no negative marking for Section B (Numerical value type questions).
- The Admission in NITs, IIITs, DTU, CFTIs is completely on the basis of performance in JEE (Main) from 2017 onwards.
- The examination for all candidates will be conducted in online (computer based) mode only. JEE (Advanced):
- Top 2,24,000 students of JEE (Main) are selected to appear in JEE (Advanced) for admission to all IITs and ISM, Dhanbad.
- The JEE Advanced examination will have two papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2) of three hour duration each. Both the papers are compulsory. Each question paper will consist of three separate sections - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
- The number of questions and marks distribution is not fixed in JEE Advanced exam, it likes to surprise IIT JEE aspirants every year!
- The examinations for all candidates are conducted in online (computer based) mode only.
